Trudy's Treasures: The Hill Country SPCA Resale Store
In mid 2008, the Hill Country SPCA Board of Directors determined that a resale store would be the best alternative to provide funding needed to support the operation of the Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA shelter. After much research and planning, Trudy’s Treasures opened in August of 2010.
The Hill Country SPCA Resale store is located at 3025 Highway 16 South, right next to the Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA, and is open Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Clothes for men and women in a variety of sizes are always available - summer and winter clothes, dress clothes for both men and women, and coats for all seasons. A really special area called PICK OF THE LITTER has upscale items, many of which have never been worn or used. In addition to clothes, the resale store offers glassware, pottery, utensils, linens, fabric pieces, furniture of all kinds, musical instruments, jewelry, rugs, paintings, and other items for sale. The Resale Store is successful because of the high quality of the items it offers and, to continue this success, a constant supply of gently used items is needed. Who Works at the Resale Store?
The resale store is staffed mostly by volunteers who work in 3-hour shifts, either 10 AM-1 PM or 1 PM-4 PM. Some volunteers work when the store is closed to sort, price and clean and organize the items that have been donated. Other volunteers work when the store is open to put items on display, work the cash register, wrap and pack items that have been sold, and, in general, help out as as needed.
Trudy’s Treasures is a companionable place to work, and new volunteers are always welcome! If you have some free time, call the resale store at 830-997-5700 and talk to Diana Burkett, the store manager.
