Surrendering your companion
Because the Hill Country SPCA is a “No-Kill” shelter, we will never euthanize an animal already in care to make room for another unwanted pet, and we operate at full capacity 24/7, 365 day a year.
If we can provide you assistance in keeping your animal please let us know, our goal is to keep your pet in their current, loving home. There are so many homeless animals out there being euthanized every day that we want to help you problem solve before resorting to surrender. Please Check out our Pet Help section for more resources.
In order for your pet to be considered for intake, you will need to fill out the form below. It is a little lengthy, however we ask questions now so that we can better assist you in placing your pet, and make sure we match them to the right home.
Being placed on the waiting list does not guarantee we will have an opening for your pet. We ask that you do not strictly rely on us to intake your animal. We recommend reaching out to other organizations, filling out a courtesy post, and posting to social media.
Our shelter balances intakes, that means we not only take in owner surrenders, but also take in dogs and cats listed up for euthanasia at local shelters. Our waiting list is not operated on first come first serve, but rather based upon urgency of placement, shelter space, and animals risk factors.
